Poderi Colla

Poderi Colla is one of Piemonte’s most historically rooted wine estates, with origins tracing back to 1703. Operating across two distinct properties — Cascine Drago in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio di Alba and Tenuta Roncaglia in Barbaresco — the family-run producer maintains a clear guiding philosophy: to work the land as farmers first, producing wines that are comprehensible, enjoyable, healthy, intriguing, and built for longevity.

Cascine Drago sits at the foot of the prestigious Bricco del Drago hill and serves as the estate’s hospitality and administrative centre. It is also home to the Museo Degiacomi, a compelling collection of historic agricultural and winemaking tools, including original nineteenth-century machinery once used for traditional-method sparkling wine production. The estate is the birthplace of Bricco del Drago, produced since the 1969 harvest and recognised as the first “Super Vino da Tavola” — a bold blend of Dolcetto and a measured proportion of Nebbiolo, wood-aged to achieve exceptional elegance and remarkable longevity. A separate Pinot Nero vineyard, Campo Romano, reflects a Burgundian connection dating to Tino Colla’s formative period of study and work in the region in 1969.

Tenuta Roncaglia extends across 13 hectares in Barbaresco, eight of which are under vine, at elevations between 240 and 280 metres with predominantly south and south-westerly exposure. The estate takes its name from the Latin “Roncaleis,” denoting an ancient Roman road. Here, Nebbiolo for Barbaresco, Barbera, and a small planting of Riesling Renano are cultivated in one of the appellation’s most consistently regarded growing zones.
