About
Corte dei Venti is a family-run agricultural and wine estate situated in Montalcino, in the province of Siena, Tuscany. Founded in 1943 and today managed by the Pieri-Machetti family, the estate takes its name from the southern reaches of the denomination it calls home, a sun-drenched area in constant dialogue with the wind. Across five hectares of Sangiovese vineyards, the family cultivates its vines with close attention, aging all wines entirely on the estate in large Slavonian oak barrels.
The estate’s flagship production is Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, drawn exclusively from a carefully tended 2.80-hectare vineyard. The wine undergoes extended aging of between 36 and 48 months in Slovenian oak casks of 20 to 25 hectoliters, followed by a further 8 to 12 months in bottle. Alongside Brunello, Corte dei Venti produces Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Sant’Antimo DOC, and Silvana IGT, the latter a personal tribute to the owner’s mother, Silvana Pieri, crafted from 2.2 hectares of estate vineyards.
The range extends beyond wine. Grappa di Brunello is distilled from the fermented pomace of Sangiovese Grosso grapes grown on the estate. An additional three hectares of centuries-old olive trees, principally Olivastra, Correggiolo, and Moraiolo varieties, yield an extra virgin olive oil produced through cold pressing. Guided visits and tastings are available at the estate.
